The essential WEEKEND Survival 1 Foundation skills course will enable you to out into the wilderness and get home safely. This course is a foundation level for folks with little to no experience in the outdoors.
Weekend topics include:
- Survival progression & routines
- Hitches, knots and lashings
- Quick shelters
- Basic Fire: matches, lenses, lighters, ferro rods, tinder
- Types of fire lays
- Water purification
- Basic Map & compass
- Aid-less navigation
- Plants for food, medicine and other uses
- Intro: foraging, medicinals and utilities
Maine Primitive Skills School offers campsites to students during their stay at no extra charge. When preparing to arrive, plan as if you were going on a comfortable car camping experience.
